The Future of T-shirt Quilts: 3 New Style to Give Your T-shirts Life

Andrea has been rethinking the T-shirt quilt. With over 30 years of experience making T-shirt quilts, she’s always looking for ways to push the boundaries of what a T-shirt quilt can be. So far, she has developed three new styles. Click on the photograph of the T-shirt quilt you want to learn more about.

Broken-glass Style T-shirt Quilt

Broken glass style T-shirt Quilt by Too Cool T-shirt Quilts

This quilt style takes inspiration from the fractured look of shattered glass. Each T-shirt is cut into irregular shapes and arranged to resemble a a sheet of broken glass on the floor.

The interplay of colors and patterns creates a striking and dynamic design that feels both modern and artistic.

The Broken-glass style works especially well for T-shirts with bold graphics or vibrant colors, turning your collection into a one-of-a-kind statement piece.

Pricing

How Many T-shirts Do I Need?

It depends. A quilt with 30 T-shirts will be on the smaller side, while 80 T-shirts will make a much larger quilt.

The colorful broken glass T-shirt quilt shown above used about 37 T-shirts. Some had designs on both the front and back, while others had just one. The size of the designs also varied—some were huge, while others were small.

It's best to have some flexibility with the number of T-shirts you send. If you have extras, include them in a "just in case" bag. With extras, we will have room to adjust the design if needed.

How Do I Order a Broken-glass Style T-shirt Quilt?

Spiral Style T-shirt Quilt

The Spiral style is all about movement and flow. Using T-shirt pieces cut into arcs and curves, Andrea arranges them to create a swirling, spiral effect across the quilt. The design draws the eye inward, giving the quilt an energetic and captivating look.

This style will be ideal for those who want their quilt to stand out and reflect a sense of motion and creativity. It’s perfect for showcasing T-shirts with larger designs or memorable colors that complement one another.

This quilt isn’t quite ready to be offered yet. It was a complex one to make, and we need to refine the process with at least one more before we’re confident in offering it.

That said, if you’re seriously interested in this style of T-shirt quilt, let us know. We can discuss experimental pricing—but fair warning, it won’t be cheap. 517-541-8225
